What is Namma Billava?
Namma Billava is a secure, community-first space designed to bring Billava families closer together. Whether you are searching for a life partner using our traditional mother's bari system, working with local matchmakers, or planning a wedding, we make it simple and safe.
Is this Billava matrimony for Mangalore and Udupi families?
Yes. It's made for Billava families in Mangaluru, Udupi, Kodagu, Bengaluru and across Tulu Nadu, and equally for Billavas elsewhere in India and abroad. You can join from anywhere.
How do I join?
Tap Register Free, sign in, verify your mobile number and choose how you want to use Namma Billava: matrimony, as a wedding vendor, or as a matchmaker. Creating a matrimony profile is free.
Matching & bari
Why does mother's bari matter?
Many Billava families trace bari through the mother and prefer not to arrange a marriage within the same bari. That's why every profile on Namma Billava asks for the mother's bari.
How does Namma Billava use bari in matching?
When both people's mother's bari is known and different, the match is ranked higher. If it's the same, the profile is still shown, just ranked lower and clearly marked "Same mother's bari", so your family can decide. If you don't know your bari, you can say so. Father's bari is optional and only shown after mutual interest.
Privacy & safety
Who can see my photos?
You decide. Photos can be visible to everyone, only after mutual interest, only to paid members, or only to people you approve. Photos are stored privately and shown through short-lived secure links.
Who can see my phone number?
Your number is hidden by default. If you choose, paid members can see it using a phone reveal, and only once your number is verified. You can change this setting any time.
What happens when I express interest or unlock a phone number?
Expressing interest sends a notification to the other family, but your contact details remain private. A phone number is only revealed if you explicitly choose to unlock it via a phone reveal (or, for a parent's contact, with the family's approval), and only if that member's privacy settings allow it, ensuring you stay completely in control of who contacts you.
Verification
How does phone verification work?
We send a one-time code to your mobile number on WhatsApp. Verifying confirms the number is really yours, and it's needed before your number can be shared or before you leave a review.
What is ID verification?
An optional check, for a small one-time fee, that matches your profile name against a government ID (PAN or Voter ID). Success gives your profile a lasting Verified badge. We never store your ID number.
Plans & payments
Is Namma Billava free? What are Bangara, Pingara and Pingara Plus?
Joining and creating a profile is free. Bangara and Pingara are paid memberships that unlock more, such as phone reveals. Pingara Plus adds a dedicated relationship manager for assisted matchmaking. Current prices and features are on the Upgrade page.
Do you charge a commission or success fee when a marriage is fixed?
No. Namma Billava never charges or asks for a commission or success fee when a marriage is fixed. You only pay for the membership or add-ons you choose. With Pingara Plus, some families like to give a thank-you gift after a wedding is fixed. That's entirely voluntary and never expected.
Can I cancel and get a refund?
Unused Bangara and Pingara memberships can be cancelled within 48 hours, and Pingara Plus within 7 days. Phone reveal packs last 15 days, carry over when you upgrade, and are non-refundable once a number is shown.
Matchmakers & associations
Can a matchmaker create a profile for my son or daughter?
Yes. Community matchmakers manage client profiles from their Matchmaker desk, but a profile is only published after the person gives consent through a one-time link and code sent to their own phone.
How do I become a Billava matchmaker?
Professionals and homemakers can enrol on the Matchmakers page. You start with a small number of client profiles and can grow your desk over time.
Are matchmaker service fees included in Namma Billava memberships?
No. Independent matchmakers set and collect their own service fees separately for personal introductions. Platform memberships (like Bangara or Pingara) and desk plans only cover digital features and capacity on Namma Billava, not private matchmaker fees.
Do you work with Billava associations?
Yes, we're building partnerships with Billava sanghas and associations. Public association pages will open later; for now, reach out if your association would like to partner.
Your account
How do I delete my profile?
You can request deletion from your account settings. Your profile is hidden straight away, and you have a grace period (30 days) to change your mind by signing in again. After that, it's permanently removed.
How do reviews work?
Verified members can rate Namma Billava. Star ratings appear right away, and written comments are checked by our team before they're published. We may reply, but we never hide anyone's rating.
